A contrastive examination of the utilization of modal

verbs in the appearance of epistemic

stance in corporate Management study

Abstract

In the present paper a great intercultural quantitative and qualitative analysis with the use of modal verbs while epistemic stance markers in SERAC (Spanish-English Research Article Corpus), a corpus of research articles or blog posts (RAs) in different disciplines, is carried out. The corpus selected for this research consists of forty-eight Business Administration research content. Special emphasis is set on the intro and discussion sections of Nivel, where position devices are most frequently located to pursue convergence with all the readership. This kind of intercultural evaluation has been attained through both a bottom-up research approach and a top-down research approach. The results obtained in this study point in the direction that there are obvious distinctions between the usage of modal verbs by local writers and the use of modal verbs by nonnative Spanish writers. The most remarkable feature is that Spanish writers demonstrate a deviant handling of hedges and boosters. Consequently , they have issues in developing a proper mezzo-soprano when they create in English.

SERAC (Spanish-English Research Article Corpus), un ensemble de artículos de investigación de diferentes disciplinas académicas. El a seleccionado afin de este tarea consta para 48 artículos de Dirección de empresas. Los mecanismos de posición epistémica child más frecuentes en las introducciones y discusiones de los artículos para investigación, que incluye el proposito de querer una confluencia con los lectores, por ello, estas secciones ze analizan que contiene más detenimiento. El modelo de análisis intercultural mencionado se st?lla till med ett llevado a cabo a traves un ajuste ascendente (bottom-up) y algun enfoque descendente (top-down). Los resultados obtenidos en exista estudio señalan que hay diferencias principales entre la utilizacion de los verbos modales durante los/as hablantes nativos/as con el uso de los verbos modales por los/as escritores/as españoles/as. El aspecto más notable fue que los/as escritores/as españoles/as muestran este uso distinto de los atenuadores e intensificadores. Por tanto, queda patente que tienen dificultades para establecer un tenor adecuado cuando escriben en inglés.

1 . General introduction and description of the examine

This paper carries out an intercultural quantitative and qualitative analysis with the use of modal verbs because epistemic stance markers in SERAC (SpanishEnglish Research Document Corpus), a corpus of research articles or blog posts in different exercises.
