 Essay in Pyle’s Chasteness on the Silent American

The character Alden Pyle in Graham Greene's novel The Quiet American is a very patriotic, idealistic American who believed he will certainly make a difference in the world in a region that this individual knew little or no about. Pyle's innocence, and inability to see the big picture might lead to fatal consequences to get himself as well as for others. The text, The Quiet American, is a story about two foreign people in China during the Indo-Chinese war. Jones Fowler, a middle old British media reporter, and the additional, Alden Pyle, who worked well for the American Help Mission. Both the characters meet up with and their characteristics develop through the entire text. Although it appears that they are different, they are similar in subtle techniques. Fowler shows up as a close minded one who does not believe in God and does not get involved in Governmental policies or additional affairs. Pyle is very patriotic to America and rather idealistic in all that he does. Pyle seems to be naive towards thinking that he will be able to save a complete country, especially one as large as China. In the same way he is convinced he can preserve Phuong Haifisch, by getting married to her and having her out of Vietnam. As Pyle's mind was fixated using one side with the war, his innocence steered him to the early death. Due to his nativity, Pyle could not view the big picture and this led to fatal consequences. Pyle was a incredibly naive young man with both his involvement in the war fantastic relationship while using young mistress Phuong. This individual believed this individual could make a positive change in the world within a country that he realized very little about, if virtually any. Pyle realized that he could not change the country by itself, so he joined Basic ThГЁ's military which was also referred to as the third force.
